Who runs CareRanks
CareRanks is built and maintained by InfoBakery LLC, based in West Hartford, Connecticut. It began as an independent project to make federally published hospital data usable by actual patients.
Independence
No hospital pays for placement, ranking, or removal. Through our claim program, facilities can submit verified corrections, a logo, and a clearly-labeled statement — every submission is reviewed by our staff, claiming is free, and nothing a facility submits or spends can ever touch a rating, grade, price figure, or ranking. Every rating, grade, and price on this site is derived from public federal datasets and the price files hospitals are required by law to publish.
Corrections
Found something wrong? Errors are reviewed against the underlying federal source file and corrected in the next site build. Write to errors@careranks.com — this includes hospitals that believe their price file was missed or misread; we will re-crawl on request.
What we are not
CareRanks is not medical advice, not a substitute for talking with your clinicians or your insurer, and not a legal compliance auditor — our transparency grades describe what we could find and parse, and only CMS makes compliance determinations.
